Hello Friends, Its my first post here so let me present. My name is Lukasz and I live in Poland. Unfortunelly I don't know german language, but maybye someone can help in english. My question is - how diameter has pipe of front forks (35 mm, 36 mm??)and what kind of steel is ussing to make it??

I am at the moment restoring 3 BMW R 75, and I have measured an old front fork. The measure on the sliding part is 34 mm, and the diameter where the pipe is clamped in the bottom yoke is 36 mm. I would recommend to use a pre hardened steel with a hardness of around 300 HB, and then if you like you can crome plate or nitride the sliding parts

thank you very much for help!!!!, you confirmed my idea abut makeing it, I have old front fork but is so much destroyed to read right measure of pipes. In my fork thickness of pipe wall is 6

If you need, I can send you one fork tube which I have scraped, but it is not so bad, so you can use it to measure the size.
